This is a question that I hear quite often.

What is a Publicist?

A publicist is a person who increases visibility by generating and managing publicity. Examples of publicity are articles in newspapers or magazines, interviews and stories on radio, TV, or on the Internet. The publicist serves as the liaison between clients, their public and media outlets.

What does a publicist do?

The job of a publicist is to increase public interest in their client. A publicist will help the client identify information that is worthy of media coverage and create or improve on their brand.

Many people use a publicist to get invited to key events that will be covered by the media such as; special screenings, product launches, designer fashion shows, premieres and award show after parties.  Attending these events is another way to increase visibility.
